N-Compass was project manager for this $68m performance, conference, exhibition and event facility completed in 2011. Designed to meet the needs of the Waikato region well into the 21st century, the new Claudelands Event Centre includes a 5,000-seat indoor arena for live performances and sport and a new conference facility. The existing exhibition facilities and landscaping were also redeveloped as part of the project.
Because of its location close to a main arterial road, residential properties and within a park, the project poses a number of challenging design, planning, consent and construction issues.
The comprehensive project management role undertaken by N-Compass included overseeing the design and construction processes and rigorous management of the project cost to meet the client's budgetary constraints.
The architecturally exciting and 'state-of-the-art' arena, built to a carefully defined and tight budget, reflects the acclaimed ability of N-Compass to deliver exciting projects to tight budgets.
In 2013, N-Compass was proud to be part of the team which won the Gold and Silver awards for this project at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.
