The Ministry of Education has engaged N-Compass to provide a comprehensive project management service for various projects at Takapuna Grammar School.
The main project at the school, which commenced in 2013, involves remediation of the main block. The initial brief was based on weathertightness remediation and MLE upgrades to the main block, which is a Grade 1 listed heritage building. The extent of the weathertightness problem proved greater than anticipated meaning that the building also requires an extensive seismic upgrade. N-Compass has been instrumental in progressing the project through the complex design process whilst maintaining excellent relationships with the relevant Ministry staff and stakeholders at the school, despite some significant challenges along the way. Construction work commenced in April 2016 and is due for completion in 2018.
Other projects at Takapuna Grammar School have already been successfully completed in order to facilitate the main block works. These include the N block development (a $1.5m Science block upgrade project), a temporary accommodation project involving 24 relocatable classrooms, a food technology upgrade project in the technology block and numerous enabling works contracts including asbestos removal works, fire system upgrade and a security system upgrade.
